Congrats to Louise & Shelley

Congrats to Louise & Shelley

Wednesday 24th September 2008

Congratulations to Louise and Shelley who have both passed their N.V.Q. level 3 qualification in hairdressing.

The course which focuses on advanced levels of hairdressing is taught at Barnfield College who also deliver the level 2 course to our younger team members.

As part of her course Shelley had to demonstrate a photo collection & show work. She is now putting that experience to great use by co-coordinating this year's Calendar project with owner Jez Barnett. Shelley will be involved in casting the models, teaching & overseeing the trainees creative abilities & ideas as well as guiding the models & trainees on the actual shoot.

During her course Louise learned Indian Head Massage and she is now busy teaching elements of it to our whole team. We will then be able to incorporate these advanced massage techniques into our hour long System Professional Treatments. As well as teaching all the team,Louise will also be assessing & passing them to ensure consistency of standards. Louise hopes to be able to launch these new & better treatments within a week or two.

More stories will appear on these news pages in the next few weeks, so please check back!

Model Call

Model Call

Thursday 18th September 2008

After the success of previous Creative Photography Training Sessions, we have launched this years photoshoot with a Model call.

The concept of the shoots are to create Avant-Garde hairdressing encouraging our trainees to think outside the box and to teach them more advanced styling & finishing skills.

Last years collection was a space age theme called Wild Future which brought clashing textures of hair into each look. The stunning set of images were published locally by The Herald, nationally in various trade journals and turned into our 2008 Calendar.

This years shoot, going under the working title of Dressed - Distressed will involve distressing classic hairdressing techniques to create a more progressive, catwalk feel.

Salon owner and project co-ordinator Jez Barnett, explained, "Learning to work to such a high standard and then seeing your work in print is fantastic in building confidence. That can then be brought into all their work. Last year we were delighted to get our Assistants work published nationally and we will hopefully get more in print this year."

Watch out for this year's reults in future news items and in The Herald newspaper.

17 years of Thanks!

17 years of Thanks!

Wednesday 3rd September 2008

Huge thanks to Olwen who has left us after 17 years of loyal service to emigrate to Australia.

Olwen first joined The Cutting Corner in June 1991 and she has played a big part in the development of our salon throughout that time. She has helped train many of the young team members who have gone on to be stars of The Cutting Corner team.

There were many tears from both her colleagues and clients on her last day, but we wish her all the best for her new life down under.
