Starring at Salon International 2009

Last weekend, October 17-19, Jez Barnett, Louise Beatham & Shelley Murphy from The Cutting Corner in Luton demonstrated for KeraStraight at Salon International in London’s Excel. The exhibition centre based in Docklands is home to one of the most important, if not the most important, hairdressing exhibition every year. The show attracts over 200 exhibiting companies and 30-40,000 visitors from all over the world.
The Cutting Corner was the 1st salon in the UK to offer their clients KeraStraight and were delighted to be able to demonstrate the treatment which repairs and straightens at the same time.
Owner Jez Barnett said, “KeraStraight has been a very popular service in our salon and my team are really experienced with it now, so it was fantastic that we had the opportunity to show other salons from the UK and around the world just how good it really is. The experience is amazing, demonstrating to so many people from trainees to salon owners and even a British Hairdresser of the Year!”
The team received excellent feedback from KeraStraight who had received emails complimenting the friendliness of the Team from Luton as well as their expertise and willingness to answer any questions.

Louise is Promoted!

Congratulations go to Louise who has gained promotion to Senior Hairdesigner.
Louise started as a Saturday Assistant, way back in 1993 and has progressed through her training from Assistant to Technical Assistant to Hairdesigner and we are delighted to recognise all her hard work with this latest promotion.
Earlier this year Louise completed her Racoon Hair Extensions Foundation Course and she has been delighting her clients by changing their looks and extending their lengths.
During her 6 years with us, Louise has become expert in all areas of hairdressing from cutting and colouring to hair-up and straightening including both Yuko permanent retexturising and the revolutionary KeraStraight, which is an Advanced Brazilian Straightener and is taking the world of hairdressing by storm.
From here, Louise will be looking to get even busier and for her excellent reputation for her skills in men's and ladies hairdressing to spread further afield.
So, book early as the demand will great!
Alex is Promoted!

Alex has been promoted to Assistant Manager
Alex started with us as a Saturday Assistant in 1999, before joining full time as he left school. During those 1st 3 years of training Alex became known for his high standard of technical ability, exceptional customer care and his scalp massages.
Once qualified, Alex had a year's break before rejoining us and quickly progressing to Senior Hairdesigner.
Alex has developed exceptional all round hairdressing skills and excels in long hair up-styles and Hair Extensions where he has developed a fantastic reputation.
As Assistant Manager, Alex will be taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of the salon and the team.
During the next year, Alex will be attending several management courses, developing the hair extensions service further and helping all our team to reach their potential...so plenty to keep him busy for a while!
Our 2008 Award Winners

Congratulations to Shelley who has won our Hairdesigner of the Year 2008 Award and to Sabrina who has won our Assistant of the Year 2008 Award.
Shelley, 20 who qualified at the end of 2007 has had a fantastic 1st year as a Hairdesigner. Apart from building and developing her ever increasing client list, Shelley came 2nd in the regional heat of the UK skills Olympics, completed her N.V.Q. level 3 qualification and helped co-ordinate this year's Creative Photoshoot.
Sabrina, 18 has also excelled in 2008. She did fantastically well in the Dressed & Distressed creative photoshoot and she has already been promoted to Head Assistant in 2009. Sabrina has almost completed her N.V.Q. level 2 qualification and she has proven a very popular Technical Assistant with our clients, with many of them asking for her to do their semis, tints and highlights.
We are sure this year will be just as successful for our 2 rising stars and are looking forward to them excelling in 2009.
Jez joins the MCE Elite!

Following on from his fantastic success in Wella's Master Colour Award (M.C.A.) and Master Colour Specialist (M.C.S.) Jez has now achieved Wella's highest colour qualification Master Colour Expert (M.C.E.) certificate.
Jez joins an elite group of around 200 hair colour supremos across the country by passing this ultimate test of a hairdressers colour correction knowledge. The M.C.E.course is by invitation only and involves advanced colour and hair theory as well as the most challenging colour correction practical exam imaginable - every colour correction nightmare on one head!
Wella describe the course by saying, ‘Master Colour Expert is the ultimate colour course in the hairdressing industry. This exclusive course will take you on a journey of intense learning, will inspire you and develop your colouring skills to the highest level. MCE is destined to become the most sought after accolade in the world of hairdressing.
Jez was delighted to achieve MCE status and is now focused on spreading this higher level of understanding throughout the team. A delighted Jez said, "This is a fantastic achievement for myself, our team and the salon but most importantly for our clients, as we will be able to achieve even more stunning colours. As so many people are changing their colours so regularly, it's vital that we have the skills and experience to enable our clients to be whatever colour they desire."
