On the 29th & 30th October 2007 the Assistant team at The Cutting Corner, co-ordinated by owner Jez Barnett, took part in creative photographic training sessions.
The idea of the project was to create Avant-Garde images which would be turned into a collection, and a 2008 calendar, with the help of a fantastically talented Photo-Artist, Hugh Byrne.
Rosemary Croucher applied creative make-up to enhance the look of each model, which would help create a collection feel.
A few weeks earlier, Jez led the young team in developing the concept of this year's theme - 'Wild Future', bringing 'clashing textures' into every hair creation. From our model call we received loads of applications. We met a lot of them and chose 8 fantastic models. Each Assistant then came up with their own ideas, with the only influences from Jez being the concept of Avant-Garde, the explanation of the standard required for photo work and the odd prompt to tighten an angle here and there.
Once the hair and make-up was completed each Assistant got the chance to work with Hugh, learning how to pose their model, create the right lighting and then see their work develop into an image on the computer.
